In 2016, Sabah arrived in the Netherlands from Turkey, seeking a better life. As a “foreigner,” it was not easy to build a new existence, and he often had to start at the bottom of the societal ladder. Sabah worked hard and had various jobs, including working in the kitchen of a restaurant in Groningen and as a tiler in the northern Netherlands.
Although these diverse jobs were enjoyable, Sabah wanted to further develop and specialize in a specific field. Through the municipality of Drachten, he got the opportunity to take a welding course. He earned his welding diplomas at levels 2-3 for MAG welding and level 2 for TIG welding.
Thanks to one of his welding instructors, Sabah came into contact with the Meijer Group, which quickly led to a permanent employment contract. Since January 2022, he has been working at Meijer Metal as a welder. His tasks include tack welding semi-finished products that are then placed in welding jigs to be completed by welding robots. This is a responsible job because if the tack welds are not done correctly or the welding jig is not filled properly, it can cause malfunctions in the welding robots.
Sabah enjoys his work and has the ambition to further advance at Meijer, seizing every opportunity to develop himself further.
