This year, Willem is celebrating his 40th anniversary with the Meijer Group. Since 1984, he has built a remarkable career, starting as a sheet metal worker. After a year operating a punch-nibble machine at Meijer Metal, Willem was quickly asked to work as an operator on the deep drilling machine developed by Meijer Handling Solutions. This machine drills the oil and cylinder channels for the telescopic extendable forklift forks, which are sold under the brand name KOOI® ReachForks.

Thanks to his experience in various departments at Meijer and as an operator of punch machines, Willem became one of the specialists in deep drilling machines at Meijer Handling Solutions. Today, there are twelve of these now highly modern machines in production at Meijer. In addition to his work at Meijer, Willem spent about ten years performing maintenance work at a potato factory in Sexbierum. At that time, Meijer had its own maintenance crew that had to service various machines in this factory on Sundays to prevent disruptions in the production process.

With his extensive knowledge and numerous welding diplomas, Willem has become a very experienced employee. Nowadays, he is an all-round production worker who can be deployed almost anywhere. His expertise is of great value in a production company where many techniques are used to manufacture KOOI® products. Willem is now passing on his knowledge and experience to the younger generation, which is essential for the company’s continuity and innovation.

Meijer proudly reflects on Willem’s valuable contribution over the past four decades. His dedication and craftsmanship have not only contributed to the company’s growth but also to the development of numerous younger colleagues.
